You may not know this about me – but I am kind of a political junkie. Have been, for years. Maybe it’s because I’m 1/4 Russian and I grew up in the cold war? My family was pretty anti-Soviet, having fled for their lives from the murdering Bolshevik hordes and finding safe harbor in the United States. I’ve always had kind of an interest in Politics, and even wanted to be US Ambassador to Paraguay, I think that’s even written in my high school year book, wherever it may be. But I’m not a member of any political party – I’m no-party affiliated or whatever. I like to say that I am a free thinker, although truth be told I think most people would say I’m more liberal than conservative (shhhh) but I think I defy easy categorization like that. Anyhow, in this video, I talk about the recent elections we just had, and how thrilled I am that the Democrats are back in control of the U.S. House of Representatives. I think that it’s an important statement if nothing else from the people of the USA that despite the fact that, for the moment, the economy seems to be doing well, we’re not comfortable with all this racist demagoguery coming out of the office of the President of the United States. I think there ought to be a litmus test for being President, and that is, you cannot be an overt racist. Is that asking too much? And I think Trump is overtly racist, and anyone who pretends otherwise is simply ignoring a HUUUUUGE and clear cut body of evidence that he’s a racist. And I find it unacceptable. I can take the tax cuts for the wealthy, the massive deficit, military build-up, massive deregulation – that’s par for the course. But I can’t stand the racism – it’s counter productive, and it hurts people – and even gets people killed. Thank goodness we’ve sent Trump a strong rebuke and let the world know we care, and language and tone matters.
