Sharing Some REALTOR Pain
Being a REALTOR means being in a lot of pain. We have to have a lot of painful discussions with people, and of course, people who buy and sell real estate are often themselves going through pain – death, divorce, job loss. It’s a tough job! One of my pain points is one I feel pretty often: telling someone their home is worth less than they think it is. It’s never an easy topic for discussion, especially because when you tell someone that, much of the time it’ll make them go off and find some other REALTOR who will tell them a higher number that they’d rather hear. But I’m pretty good at figuring out what a property is going to sell for – I try to be within 3% of the final sale price, plus or minus. Of course, it’s impossible to be 100% spot on 100% of the time, though that is the goal. In this video I do give a couple examples where I was actually 100% (or 99.95% in one case) spot on with the pricing – and with one sale, it took the market a long time to tell the sellers that I was right about the price, and in the other story, the sellers listened to me, trusted me (when I told them a higher price), and the market furnished multiple offers in 5 days, selling just a touch over asking. Nice, right? I thought so.
