Well, I went and did it. I shut down my brokerage and I joined Compass, the high tech real estate start-up company out of New York City. Why’d I do that? Why would I surrender being the boss, the Capitan with nobody to answer to but my clients? Why would I start sharing my commissions again after seven blissful years of each “company dollar” being my dollar? The reason is that it was clear to me that I could do a better job serving my clients working with Compass. It’s that simple. One thing in particular which attracted to me to Compass was their Concierge program, which fronts money to sellers so they can refurbish their homes prior to resale – so they can squeeze every bit of potential profit that they can out of their homes. And that is so important, because their homes are often their single biggest investments and they need to make the most they can on the sale. So while I may be making less per sale as a Compass agent than as an independent, my feeling is that by being able to provide a greater value to potential clients, I will gain more clients as a result. And value is what I’m all about, so working with Compass is a natural progression of my quest to provide the highest value I can to my clients.
