It’s official! We’ve all been ordered to shelter in place here in the greater San Francisco Bay Area! What does THIS mean for Bay Area real estate? Well, it sounds to me like the authorities would say that visiting a house, say, for the purposes of touring it to see if you want to buy it is not something that would be a reason to leave your shelter in place. So I think that’s definitely going to tamp down on the sales volume – fewer homes are going to go under contract around here in March 2020, and probably in April 2020. But I do not expect that this will cause the real estate market to crash. I think that it will cause fewer houses to sell, but at similar prices to what we’ve been seeing – and that when the shelter in place is lifted, there will in all likelihood be a stampede of buyers headed for your door. But for now, it’s definitely time to sit back, relax, and wait.
