All About California Proposition 19

California Proposition 19 appeared on the November 3, 2020 ballot for California voters. Voters approved the measure, which modifies Proposition 13 which limits the amount of property tax the state can collect. Prop 13 has had some unintended consequences – homeowners who have owned their property for decades have little incentive to move, for fear of losing their low tax basis when they buy a new property.
